Arcos at Elska Coffee: First Exhibition in Vilnius

The exhibition brings the light and black canvases into one space, making differences in scale, surface and repetition easier to see.
The two series share related movements and structures, but differ in scale, surface and the way paint behaves across the canvas.
The exhibition opened on September 19, 2026. It is the first public physical presentation of Arcos works together.
Two sides of Lineage
Lineage explores what passes from one generation to the next: memory, origin, patterns and traces of those who came before us.
What is inherited is never carried forward unchanged. It is repeated, altered, interrupted and transformed over time.
The paintings follow the same logic. Related movements and structures recur throughout the series, yet each work develops differently through the way paint, colour and surface interact physically.
Lineage Blanc works are acrylic paintings on 50 × 70 cm primed cotton canvas. Lineage Noir works are acrylic paintings on 50 × 50 cm black canvas. The different formats and surfaces change how colour, empty space and the painted path are perceived.
From a programmed path to a physical painting
A plotter moves a real brush across the canvas, applying acrylic paint along a prepared path.
The path begins as a line composition developed with code.
The final painted result is not completely predictable. Brush contact, paint load, drag, overlap, colour and the canvas surface affect what happens as the brush moves.
The path is programmed. The paint behaves differently every time.
Seeing the works together
Before the exhibition, the works were mostly encountered individually through photographs.
Seeing several paintings in one space makes their actual scale immediate. Differences between the light and black canvases become clearer, and recurring movements can be followed from one work to another.
The repetition is visible, but so is the variation.
That relationship between what continues and what changes is central to Lineage.
